Week 2

Before you get too excited by the title I feel I should warn you that I’m not talking about the reality TV show. I’m talking about family, about the people you see everyday. How well do you truly know the people around you? Family, friends, colleagues…

Quite well, I think that would be the general answer and I would have replied the same but this friday I came home from work and had the biggest heart to heart with my sister, it’s the most we’ve talked in our lives. For 3 hours we were sat on my bed talking about everything that came to mind and about each others lives.

Anyway this week at work in our mindmapping session (that’s not offensive, is it?) the boss came up with a great new idea for the company. We’re going to start a Community Care Fund, investing £50-£100 a month in the local community. We aim to enhance the local community and foster links with them. I think this is a great idea, just like my sister came to me to talk, we’re going to the local community and we’re going to help out our brothers and sisters there. The best part is I’ve been put in charge of it for the first month and been asked to write an article on it, now I just have to find a worthwhile local cause to help out. Challenge accepted!

I really feel I’m getting to grips with being an accountant now, I’ve bought a new suit and I’m learning more every day. This week I passed my Xero certification training which means I’m now qualified on the Xero programme which we use to manage our clients accounts! It’s been a good week for me and I look forward to seeing how this Community Care Fund turns out. Just like my little sis needs someone to talk to and look after her, maybe as a company we can do the same in the community.

Have a great week with those special to you,
